Division Description

The Information Technology Services (ITS) Division provides information systems and computer support for employees, customers of the Department of State, and therefore the people of Colorado. Much of the work completed by the ision can be done remotely, contributing to the positive work-life balance of its employees. • Website design and management.

The Senior Data Engineer is a critical role reporting directly to the CTO. The primary mission is to rapidly deliver a reliable, production-ready market data platform that serves as the single source of truth for trading, risk, and business intelligence.

You’ll immediately own the entire data platform from inception and deliver working historical and real-time Tardis pipelines in the first 60 days. Beyond the initial MVP, the role requires iteratively evolving the platform into a best-in-class, cloud-native, observable, and self-service system. You will work hand in hand with the CTO & trading team to scope & deliver to business needs. The Senior Data Engineer will also serve as the go-to data expert for the firm and will be responsible for mentoring future junior data engineers or analysts.

What You’ll Do

• Rapidly spin up the cloud environment. Deliver working historical backfill pipelines from Tardis.dev into a queryable database.
• Deliver a real-time Tardis WebSocket pipeline, ensuring data is normalized, cached for live consumption, accurate, replayable, and queryable by Day 60.
• Ensure all pipelines are idempotent, retryable, and use exactly-once semantics. Implement full CI/CD, Terraform, automated testing, and secrets management.

About This Role

Worksite Description

The Role

As the Head of Platform Engineering, you’ll spearhead the evolution of our scalable, secure, and high-performing platform, driving the infrastructure that fuels our fast-paced startup. Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll lead a lean team of 1-2 Senior/Intermediate DevOps Engineers and take full ownership of our platform strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and empowers engineering teams.

You’ll remain hands-on, contributing as a staff/principal-level engineer to write code, design architecture, and solve complex technical challenges. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering leads and senior peers across the company to advance strategic priorities, enable business growth, and deliver measurable value. What You’ll Do

• Conduct gap analyses to strengthen infrastructure, maintain exceptional uptime for critical systems (e.g., APIs, databases), and enhance monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus, Datadog) to ensure rapid incident detection and resolution.
• Own high-priority infrastructure projects, defining clear roadmaps and fostering accountability to deliver outcomes that drive business success and enable company growth.
• Actively contribute as a staff/principal-level engineer, writing high-quality code, designing robust architectures, and solving complex technical problems to set a high standard for the team.
• Mentor and develop your team, recruit top talent, and foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement, guided by meaningful performance metrics.

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in platform engineering, with hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and monitoring systems (Prometheus, Datadog). You’re comfortable contributing technically while leading the team.
• A proven ability to identify and resolve infrastructure gaps independently, anticipate challenges, and drive impactful improvements with ownership and urgency.
• The ability to craft and execute long-term platform strategies that align with business goals, enabling scalable growth, reducing technical debt, and adding value to the organization.
• Experience mentoring and scaling high-performing DevOps teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical growth, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in the cryptocurrency and centralized exchange (CEX) trading space, with a proven track record of building highly available, resilient services and architectures using tools like Kubernetes to support low-latency, high-throughput systems. Experience with trading systems is a bonus.

We are seeking a hands-on Webflow designer to bridge the gap between visual creativity and technical implementation. Acting as the strategic bridge between digital and creative, you will translate marketing goals into high-converting assets.

You will define the optimal design-to-build workflow, utilizing the right mix of prototyping software and browser-based development to create immersive, production-ready experiences. Whether building native Webflow interactions or integrating external interactive platforms, your goal is to elevate our brand, clear the UX backlog, and manage scalable design systems to ensure every concept is technically sound.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Bridge & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Serve as the primary translation layer between the creative team and the web team. You ensure that brand standards are upheld without sacrificing web performance or conversion best practices.
• Translate abstract marketing goals (e.g., "we need to sound more innovative") into concrete visual realities (e.g., utilizing Webflow 3D transforms, motion graphics, or interactive modules).
• Establish and manage a formal design review process. You will lead the presentation of prototypes to non-technical stakeholders, gathering feedback efficiently and iterating rapidly while defending UX best practices.

Global Design System Orchestration

• Maintain and evolve a robust design system (utilizing tools like Figma) that serves two distinct needs: seamless, pixel-perfect technical specs for developers and an easily accessible "visual menu" for marketing teams to reference.
• Ensure that components, variables, and auto-layouts in your design files mirror our Webflow environment for a clean handover, while also documenting standards for third-party tools (like Ceros or HubSpot).
• Design all systems with localization in mind from day one, ensuring layouts are flexible enough to expand for different regions, languages, and character counts.

Interactive Design & Webflow Development

• Utilize Webflow’s interaction engine (and external libraries like GSAP where necessary) to build complex scroll animations, parallax effects, and "Scrollytelling" experiences that keep high-value users engaged longer.
• Define the optimal design-to-build workflow. Whether utilizing Figma for ideation or building directly in the browser, you ensure every concept is technically sound and optimized for page speed.

Optimization & Cross-Platform Consistency

• While you work primarily in Webflow, you will design the visual architecture for our HubSpot landing pages and emails. You will ensure these designs are feasible within HubSpot’s limitations so the development team can implement them without friction.
• Partner with the Strategy Lead to rapidly prototype A/B test variations (hero sections, pricing tables). Use heatmaps (Microsoft Clarity) and Webflow Analyze to monitor performance—if a complex animation hurts conversion, you take the initiative to simplify it.

Job Qualifications:

• A portfolio of live, production Webflow sites is required (not just static images). We need to see examples of complex interactions, clean class structures, and responsive implementations.
• Advanced proficiency in Webflow, specifically with Interaction Engine (IX2) and CMS Collections. Familiarity with GSAP or custom code for advanced animations is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining scalable design systems (in Figma or similar tools). You must understand how to structure Auto-Layouts, Variables, and Components so they map 1:1 to Webflow classes.
• Experience working in a role where you had to translate "brand/creative" requirements into "web/technical" reality. You should be comfortable explaining technical constraints to non-technical creative directors or marketers.
• Functional understanding of HubSpot’s design modules and limitations. You don't need to be a Hubspot developer, but you must know how to design templates that are feasible for developers to build.
• Familiarity with using tools like Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, or Webflow Analyze to inform design decisions. You should be able to look at a heatmap and explain why a design needs to change.

This is a hybrid role, with approximately 2 days each week in office, in either our Austin, TX or Dallas, TX location and the remainder working remotely.  Candidates should reside within a commutable distance of either location.  The hybrid arrangement could change in the future, based on business needs.
