About this _roll_* (Responsibilities)

The POS team is responsible for creating intuitive and efficient workflows for the Toast point of sale software platform powering restaurant-grade hardware.  This team focuses on delivering cohesive device software experiences that simplify complex actions, drive efficiency and empower servers to delight guests while taking orders. 

This Product Designer will own the quality and outcomes for a key Point of Sale (POS) payment experience. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and other designers to craft end to end experiences that “Do right by the customer”, directly impacting restaurant servers, managers and operators. We are looking for a Product Designer to join our growing design team. This person will report to our Lead Designer and embed within a product-focused team (Product Manager, Engineering Manager, Engineers). As an early Design hire at a time of rapid company growth, you will play a key role in shaping what our product and design processes will look like for years to come. 

Our Travel Advisors are our primary users of the Fora Portal, where we build integrated tooling to support their work and success. From onboarding and training, to helping them manage their business (CRM, marketing, workflow), to an integrated booking platform, to reporting and commission tracking, our team is obsessed with making their workflow seamless and easy to use. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead with insights, designs, flows, prototypes, etc. – both strategically and tactically. Be comfortable with the entire Product Design process from research and design system input, to design and prototyping, to handoff and QA.

• Contribute to our nascent Design System to create consistently high quality experiences for our customers and decrease the time it takes to deliver it.

• Develop product designs that strike a balance between creativity, quality, speed, and business opportunity.

• Design  new product features, from conception to user experience to pixel perfect implementation.

  • Identify critical issues across our internal and cross-functional landscape and execute operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Establishing and improving design and DesignOps to DevOps workflows and processes to ensure we deliver excellence with predictability at scale.
  • Optimize our Experience Platforms, Tools (i.e. Figma, Miro, Monday, zeroheight), and Practices, how and when we use them.
  • Follow lean startup and pairing methods with UX Engineering to ensure what was designed and validated gets built.
  • Create visual communication artifacts to facilitate product design, such as stakeholder maps, value stream maps, service blueprints, scenario design, persona development, journey maps, interaction maps, user flows, low and high fidelity wireframes.

What you need to succeed

• • Able to apply empathy-first and a “yes, and..” mindset to get stuff done.
  • Deep experience in at least one of the following design skills: User Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design or Service Design.
  • Experience working within product teams, including collaborating with designers, content strategists, researchers, UX engineers, and product management.
  • 6+ years’ experience as a UX Designer or Digital Product Designer, creating and/or improving transactional websites or software products. Formal degree or training in HCI, Product Design, Interaction Design, Visual Design or related fields or equivalent job experience.
  • An exemplar of excellent communication, facilitation, coordination, and organization skills.
  • Experience designing for enterprise customers/users. Industry exposure to telecom, technology, or other complex businesses.
  • Knowledge of generative content creation and AI driven experiences.
  • Must have a strong portfolio showcasing your design process, methodologies, and successful projects.

As a Senior UI/UX Designer at Gurobi Optimization, your role is pivotal in leading and shaping the company’s creative direction.
