We are specifically hiring a staff engineer for Checkr Pay - our bet in the payments space. Checkr Pay is a full-service payments platform for the gig economy. Checkr Pay allows gig platforms to pay their workforce instantly, seconds after completing a job - at no cost to the platform or the worker. Our core product is a digital wallet experience, including a free Visa debit card, that is embedded directly in gig platform apps/websites. This product supports a seamless onboarding flow for new workers, improving conversion by as much as 30%. Our embedded instant pay solution is the core platform on which we are building a new financial ecosystem for the gig economy, which moves the needle on financial inclusion for the unbanked and underbanked. As Ginkgo’s Accounting Manager, you will oversee the accounting of all assets and liabilities associated with Ginkgo’s employee base, including payroll and related benefits accounting (via coordination with the Payroll team), calculating and reporting stock-based compensation accounting (via coordination with the Stock Plan team), and managing the accounting and reconciliation of all applicable tax balances. This is the ideal role for an accountant with exceptional strength in knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, AICPA and/or SEC guidelines most common with an entity like Ginkgo. We are seeking Ginkgo’s first and only Director of Revenue to lead the ARC organization that calculates, analyzes, and reports Ginkgo’s revenue, deferred revenue and/or related receivables. This senior level leader must possess expertise with technical accounting rules pertaining to revenue from contracts with customers (aka ASC 606 and IFRS 15 (given Ginkgo’s globalization)) and be familiar with internal controls over financial reporting (aka SOX 404) associated with revenues and receivables. Such requirements are beyond the primary task of overseeing Ginkgo’s accounting and reporting teams responsible for journalizing revenue, receivables, deferred revenue, other income, intercompany profit and related eliminations along with the related account reconciliations, all invoicing activities, cash application processes,  and associated reporting. 

Ginkgo’s revenue is calculated at points in time or over time, depending on contract terms and conditions, with input methodologies used for all over time revenue recognition. The cost to cost manner of percentage-of-completion is an area where you will drive innovation and efficiency in Ginkgo’s future processes. 

The Director, Revenue Accounting is a high visibility people leadership role that reports to the Corporate Controller, and will oversee the Sr. Manager Revenue Controller, who leads a small team. Indirect reports include customer-facing business or site-specific teams in business development/ commercial/ project management. You will also have the support of the Financial Systems team for purposes of automating as much as possible of an otherwise manually-derived accounting area. 

Responsibilities

* Ownership of all policies and procedures associated with revenue accounting, reporting (internal and/or external) and controllership activities - as Ginkgo is  publicly traded company subject to SOX 404, all such policy/ procedural steps have been designed and are operating. Your role is not to create or design new, but to continue and refine existing. In particular, you will support the Chief Accounting Officer in ensuring all revenue guidelines are published and easily understood by others in the organization sufficient for them to do their jobs. Therefore, not only is your 606 expertise very important, but so is your ability to translate accounting-heavy concepts to non-finance customer-facing personnel.

The purpose of the Associate Director, Lab Enablement role is to manage, train, and support teams that evaluate and establish operational capability within potential partner labs in US and international locations, including introducing and transferring new testing methods, for both clinical and environmental applications. There will be a significant amount of focus on wastewater testing and sequencing. This exciting, challenging new role will deliver tremendous impact for our international programs by giving us more flexibility and leverage with our partner labs. It may also prove to be an integral service offering and potential revenue stream if we can demonstrate the value to our stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in environmental and molecular biology technologies with protocol development experience and likes to travel. We are looking for someone with significant NGS wet lab experience (preferably multi platform) as well as nucleic acid extraction from a variety of sample sources. Wastewater sample processing experience is highly desirable as well as understanding the fundamentals of qPCR, ddPCR and dPCR. This role will also require someone with management experience who is creative, flexible, a good communicator, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in creating process structure and workflows is ideal.

Role Overview

We are still a small team with fewer than five engineers, but we are moving quickly. There is still a lot to do, so you will be working on a variety of tasks. We do a mix of iterations, A/B testing, LLM research projects, new feature development, performance work, and more. We are heavily focused on delivering value to our users. This is the only thing that matters.

Our backend is a standard Ruby on Rails API powered by PostgreSQL, Redis, and Sidekiq jobs. We already have a fair amount of load.

About You:

You have led and built multiple large Rails applications, and you always strive for excellence. You are pragmatic, making the right trade-offs that favor speed of iteration while maintaining high product quality. You are driven by delivering the best experience and value to your users. You might have a preference for working on backend projects, but you aren't afraid of frontend work. Rails has no secrets for you.

Recent experience playing with LLM is a big plus.

The Role

We are seeking a full cycle recruiter with a track record of success managing recruitment processes at a high growth startup / scaleup technology company.

This is a contract position to start, but could lead to a full time employee role. The role can be part-time or full-time.

We are looking for someone that can process candidates, perform initial screening, manage the recruitment process and help build our recruitment function. This role is not a sourcing role.

You will work on roles spanning Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product Management and Engineering.
