Role

As a Platform Engineer, you must be able to work in an ambiguous environment with an optimistic attitude, that can easily (and happily) wear many hats. The right person will be responsible for maintaining, scaling, and monitoring existing infrastructure, including cloud machines, bare-metal servers, and a Kubernetes cluster, to allow Chorus One to provide secure and reliable industry-leading Proof-of-Stake validation services. The Platforms Engineers within our Infrastructure team play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for Chorus One’s ongoing growth, thus we are continuously expanding our team and seeking skilled Platforms Engineers to join us.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, scale and monitor existing infrastructure, including bare metal servers, cloud machines, and a Kubernetes cluster, to allow Chorus One to provide secure and reliable industry-leading Proof-of-Stake validation services.
• Institute monitoring and alerting systems for infrastructure. Enable other team members to attend to and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
• Take all steps required to ensure maximum availability and uptime of maintained blockchain networks. This includes routine and emergent application updates, monitoring of systems, timely response to alerts and on-call phone calls, as well as rapid response to mitigate site outages.
• Develop software related to blockchain data extraction or interchain communication, on an as-needed basis.
• Reason about and improve the security properties of infrastructure. Secure key management, server hardening, and intrusion detection are important themes.

What we are looking for

• Strong Linux skills, including a deep understanding of the kernel and userspace.
• Strong networking skills, including a deep understanding of routing, forwarding, and load-balancing.
• Has prior experience with a range of orchestration and configuration management tools. We use Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform and Salt.
• Is able to develop tooling, and monitoring solutions where none exist and can debug unreliable software - many of the projects we run are of alpha quality.
• Possesses good knowledge of security as it relates to bare metal and cloud-based infrastructure.
• We are not just looking for someone who can configure an existing cloud solution, but we are looking for someone who can build the infrastructure underlying a cloud.
• We expect candidates to know one programming language in addition to Bash, and we test for this with a coding interview. We don’t expect you to be a seasoned software engineer, but we do expect you to be comfortable writing small programs. Popularly used languages at Chorus One are Python, Golang and Rust.
• Is able to work independently, with a high level of ambiguity and undefined requirements.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related subject is a plus, but not strictly needed.

The national pay range for this role is $200,000 plus additional On Target Earnings potential by level and equity in the company. The role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for assisting the Head of the Finance and Operations team with the day-to-day running of the finance function;

Objectives:

• To ensure the company has accurate financial books and records that are up-to-date
• To ensure that the company has the right data to be able to make informed decisions
• To assist the Head of Finance in building a scalable, efficient, and successful finance function and team

Responsibilities:

1. Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording transactions in journals, ledgers, and accounting software.
2. Accounts Payable: Process invoices from suppliers, verify expenses, and prepare payments in a timely manner.
3. Accounts Receivable: Issue invoices to customers, track receivables, and follow up on overdue payments.
4. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

7. VAT Returns: Calculate and submit Value Added Tax (VAT) returns to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in compliance with regulations.
8. Expense Management: Review employee expense reports, ensure compliance with company policies, and process reimbursements.
9. Assisting with Audits: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, gathering documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
10. Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Assist senior accountants or management with ad hoc financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting tasks as required.
11. Compliance: Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with UK Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (UK GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
12. Communication: Collaborate with colleagues in finance, as well as other departments, to address accounting-related queries and provide financial information as needed.
13. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
14. Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel proficiently to perform tasks efficiently and accurately.
15. Professional Development: Pursue continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance accounting knowledge and skills.
