The role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build Kit’s core publishing platform and creator growth experiences.

You will be joining the Builders team, which builds the suite of publishing tools creators use to create emails, landing pages, and newsletters. Our team is responsible for creators' first experiences in the app, from onboarding, to activation, and conversion. And we steward Kit’s core application experience and design system.

This is a hands-on role for a product-minded full-stack engineer who excels at crafting exceptional user experiences. Your support system

• First Month: Work through your personal onboarding plan. Begin understanding how our publishing tools support creators from onboarding to conversion, and identify opportunities for improvement. Join team activities for planning, building, and measuring the experiences we ship to creators. Actively participate in code reviews, and contribute PRs weekly.

Working hours and location

We're 100% remote with team members across the globe. We work mostly on East Coast time—so if you're based on the West Cost of the United States, Europe, or Asia, you might have a few early mornings or late evenings. We do our best to keep things reasonable, but a little time zone juggling comes with the territory. The core collaboration hours for this team are 10:45am to 2pm Eastern Time. This position is located in our Richmond, VA office and offers a schedule of Monday-Thursday in office and Friday work from home. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain engaging, responsive, and high-performance web applications using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. 

• Build reusable, scalable, and secure UI components and libraries with a focus on maintainability and performance. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, backend developers, and product managers to transform business needs into technical solutions. 

• Contribute to and maintain shared component libraries and front-end architecture.

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college 

• 3+ years of production development experiencing using modern front-end frameworks. 

• Strong proficiency in React.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. 

• Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design. 

• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and familiarity with front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel).

Project Overview

Join a high-impact modernization initiative to transform the USPS Delivery

Operations Information System (DOIS) from a legacy mainframe-based

to a modern, cloud-native, mobile-responsive web platform. This project

supports the USPS 'Delivering for America' 10-year strategy and involves a

phased approach including data migration, UI redevelopment, and AI/ML

integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Utilize Artificial Intelligence tools such as GitHub CoPilot to derive use

cases and business rules from existing Visual Basic 6 code

- _Develop unit tests (test-driven development) and integration tests for

user interface_

- Architect the new DOIS user interface, working closely with the overall

DOIS architect

- Develop the new DOIS user interface, including _developing wireframes/

mockups/sprint_ demonstrations to rapidly obtain feedback from stakeholders

- Integrate closely with the team to ensure the user interface and the

refactored cloud based application work seamlessly together

- Recommend and prototype use of Artificial Intelligence to enhance the

user experience, ideally tools already approved for use at USPS. Contribute

to approval package submission to USPS AI Steering Committee.

- Support the development of training and rollout of new user interface

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Required Experience:

- Mid Level: Minimum of 8-12 years’ relevant experience. Must have

experience implementing of mobile responsive applications with the

ability to work independently.

- Senior Level: 13-20 years’ relevant experience. Must have the ability

and experience _leading technical implementations of mobile responsive

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or

related field. Four additional years of related experience required in

About the Role
