A quick run-down of the job
We are looking for a senior DevOps engineer with extensive experience in platform engineering who will help to bring our infrastructure to the next level. You will be part of a highly experienced DevOps team, reporting to the DevOps Lead, responsible for all infrastructure, CI/CD, DevEx, automation, resilience, high availability and o11y. You will work closely with our development teams to build critical features, design new solutions and support the route to live of multiple applications.

The Department: Trading Systems
The Role: Staff Software Engineer
Working with our team of core trading systems developers to improve and expand the functionality of our matching engine, order entry mechanisms, and market data publication. We design, develop, deploy, and support real-time systems for our digital asset trading platform. Time is measured in microseconds and we aim to start measuring in nanoseconds. Reliability, fault tolerance, recoverability, throughput, and latency are what we look for in our systems. If something on the spaceship is broken we aim to fix it, if something can be automated we automate it, and we ship our code weekly.
Responsibilities:
- Use engineering principles to identify and measure risk and to implement quantitative and technical risk management solutions in software.
- Understand business needs, facilitate and develop process workflows, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation of our real time exchange.
- Develop scalable architecture for the future state of our exchange and contribute towards improving the trading infrastructure.
- Write robust code and APIs to support the companyâs vital business.
- Keep everyone informed about the health and viability of the platform by reporting known issues and status of ongoing investigations.
- Identify and advocate for changes vital to the stability and supportability of the system.
- Mentor and advise teammates to ensure new features are efficient, highly available, and fault tolerant.

What’s unique about this role is that we’re attempting to deploy production systems with newer (sometimes alpha quality) blockchain software. And given we’re in the crypto/blockchain domain, things like security, server hardening, intrusion detection, monitoring etc. are highly important.
If you enjoy figuring out how to get new infrastructure software working in a local/test environment, and then designing and automating production rollouts, this role may be a good fit.
You will report to the DevOps Team Lead and work with a group of devops generalists. It’s critical that you are comfortable working in an unstructured environment, dealing with uncertainty, minimal direction, and working across a range of projects.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Manage and monitor cloud and physical servers across multiple global hosting services and data centers
- Deployment automation with Kubernetes
- Configuration Management with Ansible. Prev experience with other tools like Packer, Terraform, etc. helpful.

About The Opportunity
Figment is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the development and enhancement of our internal systems that support Finance, Sales, RevOps, and other internal teams. In this role, you'll own the product roadmap for critical internal platforms such as our admin and internal reporting systems that power our business operations.
As our Senior PM for Internal Systems, you'll partner closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs, streamline workflows, and deliver solutions that increase efficiency and drive business impact. How You Will Make an Impact
- Own and drive the product roadmap for internal platforms and systems

Compensation
One of Figment’s core principles is “Making the Invisible Visible” - ensuring transparency and information sharing in all communication. Figment is committed to transparency regarding pay, benefits, and other compensation types for all internal roles as well as all roles being hired for.
Base Salary: The CAD base salary range for this position is CAD $180,000 - $215,000. The US base salary range for this position is USD $180,000 - $215,000. This range reflects base salary only, and does not include additional compensation or benefits. For candidates in other countries, the pay range will be disclosed upon your first interview with Figment (being a globally remote company, the list of salary ranges would simply be too long to note here!). The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum range for a new hire across all Canada or the US. A candidate’s specific pay within the range will be determined by various factors including job-related skills, relevant education, and training.
