Position Overview 

This position will instruct jazz dance course on campus as a part of elective offerings. The position includes responsibilities such as course implementation and assessment and active collaboration with colleagues within the Math and Sciences Division. 

All employees at ICC are expected to perform all duties in a manner consistent with the mission objectives and strategies of the College.  This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs as part of the Math and Sciences Division. 

This position is scheduled to start October 2025. 

 Qualifications 

Master’s degree Dance; or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the concentration from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education OR relevant experience employed in the field for minimum of two years. 

Teaching Responsibilities 

1. Teach undergraduate courses as assigned.
2. Develop and provide written course syllabus with classroom policies, procedures, grading guidelines, and learning outcomes. 
3. Develop curriculum, presentation materials, course materials, and examinations.
4. Use appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, textbooks, and supplementary teaching materials. 
5. Provide a positive learning environment committed to ICC student success by being receptive to various learning modalities (e.g. on-line, traditional, and hybrid).
6. Work with the instructional team to provide outcomes assessment, follow-up, and improvement(s).
7. Encourage student retention, continuity, progress in coursework and program, and student success.
8. Work with other instructors and college staff to promote ICC and the curricula offerings.
9. Assist in student recruitment, curriculum development, and assessments.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

1. Position generally requires light work with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds or more, carrying supplies, equipment.
2. This position requires the ability to sit or stand or walk for extended and various periods of time. 
3. The ability to effectively learn new computer programs and applications as necessary; the ability to effectively troubleshoot changing computer software issues.
4. The ability to communicate clearly with small or large groups of people, with an excellent comprehension of the English language, is essential. 
5. Provide own transportation to and from campus, and appropriate licensing to operate college vehicles on recruiting trips.

Independence Community College (ICC) is a two-year educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.  It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independence public school system.  In 1967, Independence Community College legally separated from the school district.  Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus, formerly the Independence Country Club, began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970.  ICC campus is now home to the Academic Building, Fine Arts Building, Student Union, Cessna Learning Center, Field House, Administration Building, William Inge Center for the Arts, fitness center, athletic practice fields, disc golf course, 96-bed multi-structure living complex, and a 200 bed residence hall.

By renovating a donated building, in 2010, we expanded our college to include ICC West (2615 West Main Street).  This campus is located on the west side of Independence and is home to our technical programs:  Allied Health, Cosmetology, and GED/ABE.  Additional renovations were completed in 2012 to accomodate our newest program, Veterinary Technology.  This state-of-the-art facility includes animal wards, a classroom, lab, surgery, pharmacy, prep room, small animal treatment, food prep, grooming, and radiology. 

ICC also maintains presence downtown through the ICC Foundation office and by partnering with the Independence Business Resource Center.

Currently, our educational and support programming includes 35 programs of study for Associates of Arts and/or Science degrees, 11 programs of study for Certificate completion,  Student Support Services, Upward Bound, men's and women's athletic programs, and a variety of campus organizations and activities.

Experience:

The Department of German Studies in the School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-eligible (TE) in-person position beginning in August 2026 at the rank of Assistant Professor to serve as Language Program Director (LPD). A Ph.D. in hand is required at time of appointment in German linguistics, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or a closely related field. We are especially interested in someone with both a scholarly and practical expertise in language program development/supervision/evaluation and language pedagogy and assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Direct the language program in German.
• Teach 2 courses per academic year (this includes 1 course reduction per semester for the direction of the language program).
• Teach general education courses, courses for the undergraduate major in German, and graduate courses for Master students in German Studies and PhD students in Transcultural German Studies.
• Supervise graduate student instructors teaching in the language program.
• Organize and lead graduate student instructor orientation and regular meetings.
• Maintain curricular cohesion through alignment and assessment of course sequences, outcomes, and objectives.
• Periodically review and update the curriculum, student learning outcomes (SLOs), and assessments.
• Select material for classes in the language program, in accordance with SLOs.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Aging and Disability Services, Board of Education and Services for the Blind on an itinerant basis, provides special instruction in braille and related subjects to visually handicapped students in public schools; does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Instructs in the specialized and basic skills of braille reading and writing, typewriting, and may assist with arithmetic, science or art adaptations and any other instructional tasks as assigned;

An Edmentum Virtual Teacher, SOD is a highly qualified, state certified educator primarily responsible for delivering specific course content in an online, virtual environment. Teachers provide both live and asynchronous instruction. While the technology used for lesson delivery assesses the student’s mastery, Virtual Teachers support, guide and manage the learning process by focusing on students’ inidual needs. Flexible Virtual Learning - In this learning environment, students are assigned an Edmentum course via their local school, and they complete the work largely on their own time. Grading, messaging, and live help and overview sessions are provided by an Edmentum Virtual Teacher.

Success in this role will be partly measured by valid and reliable student assessment data, (passing rate, completion rate) and an overall student satisfaction rating. Other expectations are listed below.

Certified Student and Teacher Support

These roles require completion of a certification track for credentialling before duties are assigned.

Success Coaching – In this function, Virtual Teachers implement student-centered strategies to help students develop high levels of self-efficacy. Virtual Teachers conduct video conferences and phone calls to motivate students and review course progress. These conversations provide students with the tools, strategies, and support needed to problem-solve while also celebrating student growth and advancement.

We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses.

The role

As a Curriculum Developer with us, you’ll be responsible for designing a new Python-based curriculum for beginner high school students. Your work will focus on creating lessons, activities, and projects that build foundational programming skills while encouraging problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. You will report directly to the full-time Curriculum Developer.

This is a temporary, part-time hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. In-person work is required at least once a week, depending on the program schedule. In-person work will include travel to the office and around the Bay Area.

As a part-time instructor in the Social Sciences department, you will provide instruction in all levels of Criminal Justice, including certificate and/or transfer levels. Course assignments will be made based on experience.

Creating course materials (e.g., PowerPoint slides) and presentations must be prepared for a mock meeting/lecture before receiving an assigned course to teach. The Lead Instructional Manager of the assigned course will review presentations. The orientation/training period is a prerequisite for teaching any new course. Instructors-in-training may not work more than 10 hours per week unless approved by the Program Chair.

Responsibilities Include:

• Watch weekly lecture videos and complete interspersed activities and active student responding exercises.

• Complete at least one form of each unit's weekly tests.

• Attended at least one 1-hour online meeting of your choosing per week (new instructors-in-training only)

• Create teaching materials for each unit using resources provided by the Curriculum and Instruction Team. (Note: these materials do not have to be the final version you will use during instruction.)

• Complete weekly instructor training assignments (new instructors-in-training only)

• Attend a pre-semester instructor meeting one week before each semester or review recording.

• Provide accurate availability for scheduling purposes up to one semester ahead of the scheduled term.

• Host a mock meeting prior to the first scheduled term (new instructors-in-training only)

Requirements Include:

• M.S. in behavior analysis or related field with experience in behavior analysis teaching or training.

• Maintain certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing.

• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience required in the area of expertise

• Demonstrate mastery in the concepts and principles of behavior analysis.

• Communicate information effectively in a clear, courteous, and timely manner to students and team members.

• Teach effectively.

• Facilitate student achievement of educational outcomes and maintain high student satisfaction scores.

• Ability to take initiative and self-manage.

• Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.

• Learn new technologies/programs quickly (e.g., LMS/Canvas)

• A wired, high-speed internet connection is sufficient to effectively conduct online activities.

• Flexibility of work hours (evenings and weekend days/evenings are required).

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
