THE ROLE

To put it simply, you will deliver engaging, synchronous instruction via Zoom, building a strong virtual classroom community with students from multiple campuses.

YES Prep Online Scholars

YES Prep offers an internal hybrid/online program, YES Prep Online Scholars, that expands access to Advanced Placement (AP), Career and Technical Education (CTE), and World Language courses across all secondary campuses. In this model, students attend a scheduled class period on their home campus while participating in live, virtual instruction led by a YES Prep online teacher.

Students are supported on-site by a campus-based Learning Coach who helps facilitate the learning environment and ensure accountability. This model blends the flexibility and reach of virtual instruction with the structure and support of an in-person setting, allowing online teachers to focus on high-quality instruction, student engagement, and meaningful feedback.

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

• Designing and delivering rigorous instruction in a 1:1 blended learning environment (one laptop: 1 student) that prepares students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities;
• Creating engaging online learning experiences that deeply invest students in the work-intentionally building connection, accountability, and participation through strong facilitation, interactive structures, and purposeful use of technology in a virtual setting where engagement cannot be assumed;
• Using student data, formative assessment results, and feedback from instructional leaders to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and create intervention plans when students are not meeting expectations;
• Providing frequent, actionable, and timely feedback to students on assignments, assessments, participation, and overall progress;
• Building strong, productive relationships with students and families through consistent communication via ParentSquare (district communication tool), video conferences, emails, and other district-approved platforms;
• Maintaining a virtual classroom culture that is safe, engaging, inclusive, and conducive to learning;
• Collaborating and communicating effectively with online teacher colleagues, content teams, Learning Coaches, campus staff, administrators, families, and program leadership to ensure strong cross-functional alignment, effective student support, and a high-quality online learning experience across the district;
• Meeting all deadlines for lesson plans, grading, student documentation, and required work samples;
• Facilitating weekly tutorials or intervention sessions outside of the regularly scheduled class time to provide targeted academic support to students;
• Attending and actively participating in professional development, team meetings, coaching meetings, and other required in-person or virtual meetings;
• Coordinating proactively with students' home campuses regarding attendance concerns, academic progress, student support needs, and escalation of concerns;
• Representing the YES Prep Home Office as a teacher leader by demonstrating reliability, preparedness, discretion, strong follow-through, and solution-oriented communication;
• Effectively managing multiple digital systems and platforms for instruction, communication, grading, and progress monitoring, while troubleshooting and resolving technology issues in real time and escalating as needed;
• Responding calmly, quickly, and professionally to unexpected instructional, operational, or technology-related challenges that may arise in a live online learning environment;

• Develop and/or update course syllabi and modules in consultation with the Landscape Architecture Program Director.
• Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments with clearly defined instructions and rubrics.
• Utilize Canvas, an online learning management system, as a required course delivery platform in online, in-person and hybrid courses. Required.
• Communicate course objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and review the grading policies of the course.
• Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades. Create clear grading rubrics for each assignment.
• Post final student grades no later than two (2) weeks after the last class meeting. • Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner. (within 24-48hrs)
• Communicate with Program Director and Program Manager regarding any student or classroom issues as soon as they occur.
• Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of Landscape Architecture.
• Complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner, including all new hire paperwork, updated syllabus every quarter, accept quarterly hire contract, submit required textbook orders, complete University mandated trainings (sexual harassment prevention, cyber security, Canvas etc.), and communicate classroom needs to the appropriate program staff member.
• Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs.
• Attend instructor meetings and program events.
• Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies in the classroom inclusive of both domestic and international student populations.

Special Conditions of Employment

Instructor total compensation for a 4-unit course is $2,706. ( Compensation varies with unit valuation and instructional hours associated with each course.

Additional benefits include UCLA Library and JSTOR access, one free class per class taught, one year of teaching experience (4 total quarters) can be applied to licensure experience requirement in California, an educational email address, academic discounts at the campus store, and access to the University Credit Union.

Instructors are hired quarterly and on an as-needed basis.

Because Extension is a ision within UCLA, all Extension Program instructors and courses must be formally approved by University and California Academic Senate regulations. Eligibility to teach a course is contingent upon formal academic approval. Once approved, teaching assignments are "by agreement." The Instructor's Contract outlines course deliverables, the course schedule, and compensation terms, subject to Extension policies and procedures. UCLA Extension makes no commitment to hiring an instructor until it has received an accepted Instructor Contract. • BLA, BSLA, MLA, MSLA, or Landscape Architecture Certificate graduate with a current license, required. We will consider a Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture with a current license.

Working closely with the Associate Manager or Manager of Professional Learning, sales team, and other Curriculum Associates professionals, the Educational Consultant (Math) will be responsible for facilitating high-quality professional development, training, support, data analysis, and communicating consultatively with schoolteachers and leaders.

Hours: Per Diem consultants are scheduled on an as-needed basis, paid hourly. Schedule is highly dependent on customer demand - professional development is usually scheduled with partners during normal school hours. Our peak times of the year include August through October and then again January and February, although we deliver professional development throughout the school year.

Given the as-needed and heavily seasonal nature of this role, we do not recommend that you maintain a full-time role that operates during school hours, simultaneous with the Per Diem Educational Consultant role at Curriculum Associates.

Location: This position is based in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and will be supporting districts throughout the Midwest, PA, and WV. • Technical Training Delivery: Deliver engaging instructor-led SOLIDWORKS training (both remote and on-site) in English and French to our French-speaking customer base (including co-teaching initially, then teaching independently as you ramp up).

• Course Preparation and Continuous Improvement: Prepare training materials, formulate classroom objectives aligned with course objectives; create self-paced courses per GoEngineer standards; incorporate feedback to continuously improve the learning experience and maintain consistency across the training team.

• Certification Progression: Work toward and maintain relevant SOLIDWORKS certifications (e.g., CSWA/CSWP; with growth opportunities toward advanced levels over time).

• Learner Support: Assess customer needs and assist in determining the appropriate training solution; answer attendee questions, coach students through exercises, and adapt instruction to different learning styles and experience levels.

• Engineering Software Support: Provide engineering software support on SOLIDWORKS and related tools as required.

• Training Operations Support: Maintain and update the office training room (computers, setup, training manual library); help organize and support new and evolving training initiatives, including assisting with team projects that improve scheduling, readiness, and execution.

• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to internal documentation and best practices to help standardize course delivery and support team consistency.

• Collaboration and Mentorship: Partner with a highly tenured training team, leveraging mentorship and collaborating to deliver a high-quality, consistent training experience.

• Customer Experience Focus: Represent GoEngineer professionally in the classroom and ensure students have a positive, confidence-building training experience.

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and skills, however, even if you do not meet all the listed requirements, very interested candidates should still apply:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French (Canadian French preferred), with demonstrated ability to deliver technical training and support learners in both languages.

• SolidWorks experience with a strong working knowledge of core workflows taught in an Essentials-style course (modeling, assemblies, drawings), and the ability to explain concepts clearly to learners with varying skill levels.

• Professional experience delivering technical training, instruction, or enablement (in-person and/or virtual), with the ability to lead classes independently after onboarding

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including comfort presenting to groups, answering questions on the fly, and supporting a consistent training experience across the team.

• Extra points for: prior co-teaching or mentoring experience, advanced SolidWorks certifications (CSWE), and experience with CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities

Performs as medical actor for educating learners at the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center. Portrays various roles ranging from patient and family member to medical personnel. Participates in inpatient and outpatient scenarios for both educational and testing purposes. May also participate in a surgical, ICU, or ER setting.
