As part of the Australian Deloitte Cyber practice of over 500 people our Adelaide team provides a wide range of advisory and implementation services relating to cyber strategy and transformation, security architecture, security operations advisory, and security testing. What will your typical day look like?

The Search Conversational Experiences team builds Elastic’s new conversational (agentic) platform that lets customers chat with their own data in Elasticsearch. We own the quality layer for RAG, agents and tools, retrieval/citations, streaming, memory, and—crucially—the evaluation signals that turn open-ended questions into grounded, reliable answers. As a Data Scientist, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team (backend, DS, PM, UX) driving chat quality end-to-end: designing and running evaluation pipelines, improving prompts and tool behaviors, and turning measurements into product decisions that customers can feel.se

You’ll help tackle frontier problems—folding RAG and vector search into an agent’s knowledge base, dynamically enriching model context to boost groundedness, shaping agent routing and tool selection policies, lighting up agent-driven visualizations on top of Elasticsearch data, and exploring multimodality and reasoning strategies where they truly move the needle. This is an applied role: you will prototype, evaluate, and partner with engineers to ship.

What you will be doing

• Own well scoped pieces of the offline and online evaluation pipeline for agent workflows: retrieval coverage, reranking quality, reasoning traces, tool selection accuracy, citation integrity, and final answer helpfulness and faithfulness
• Calibrate and validate LLM-as-judge rubrics against human labels, track agreement with statistics, and add periodic checks to prevent drift
• Instrument agent runs with traces so you can localize errors to retrieval, reasoning, tool execution, or grounding, then contribute CI checks that block merges on regressions
• Translate evaluation readouts into product calls such as model choice, routing policy, tool gating thresholds, prompt and chunking updates, and agent customization for Elastic use cases

What you will bring

• 3 to 5 years in applied DS or ML with production ownership, including at least 1 to 2 years focused on evaluating LLM or agent workflows in shipped systems
• Proven experience designing and running stepwise evaluations for agent pipelines: retrieval coverage, reranking quality, reasoning traces, tool selection accuracy, citation grounding, and final answer helpfulness and faithfulness
• Golden set hygiene: stratified dataset design, leakage controls, reviewer guidelines, inter-rater checks, and versioned labels
• Fluent with offline IR metrics and guardrails: Recall at k, nDCG, MRR, groundedness or citation support, plus latency and cost tracking; can move from offline gains to online A or B tests
• Telemetry and traces for agent runs that localize failures to retrieval, reasoning, tool execution, or grounding; ability to add CI quality gates that block merges on regressions
• Practical Elasticsearch experience or a similar search system; ES|QL familiarity is a plus

  Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.

The Opportunity:

The Security Security Assurance Engineer will collaborate across their team, the security department, and wider Grafana to articulate security policies, implement continuous monitoring, automate workflows, and write and deploy policies across all of our SDLC, applications, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience building, implementing and improving the maturity of security programs in Cloud-based SaaS organizations.

This role is significantly hands-on keyboard development, so programming experience is critical and a knowledge of securing cloud-native, container-based architectures are highly valuable. What Makes You a Great Fit:

• Solid experience with at least one programming language. We primarily use Go, TypeScript, and Python but most languages translate well. You will take a code screen.
• Knowledge of using and securing containerized, cloud-native applications, ideally with Kubernetes. Experience with multiple cloud providers is a strong plus. 
• Experience in automating security compliance processes using tools, scripts, and frameworks while enabling developer and employee workflows.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Some experience collaborating (and negotiating) with peers, stakeholders, auditors, and customers.

Install required law enforcement equipment to include radar units, radio systems and lighting accessories in new law enforcement patrol vessels/vehicles/specialty equipment to ready them for field deployment, making all necessary connections and field testing to ensure a quality and professional installation. Evaluating/diagnosing failed communications equipment or installed components using basic test equipment to pinpoint operational problems, system and/or equipment issues and recommending repair or replacement to ensure maximum effectiveness. Removing or assisting in the removal of electronic equipment, components, or other electronic equipment from mobile and marine law enforcement patrol units.

Maintain proficiency in the diagnoses, repair, maintenance and operation of all communications hardware, modifications and improvements used or installed in law enforcement equipment. Maintain familiarity with current diagnostic/maintenance manuals and technical literature on all equipment serviced and electronics test equipment used. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work area. Provide and maintain hand tools as required to complete routine tasks associated with the position and is responsible for maintaining and safeguarding parts and supplies and inventory necessary to make routine repairs. Attend training seminars sponsored by the agency, equipment vendors, manufacturers and other entities as required.

Complete all training and policy reviews assigned via PowerDMS in a timely manner. Follow all agency and ision prescribed policies, procedures and guidelines, this includes but is not limited to the timely completion of timesheets. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records for any part issued to their workstation. Demonstrate a positive work ethic and will proactively and positively interact with co-workers to ensure a productive working environment. The incumbent will maintain good communication with section management to ensure mutual goals are reached in support of the ision's mission.

Perform other related tasks as required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, knowledge of procedures, techniques and equipment used for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electronic and radio communications to a non-component level. Skilled in the use of basic test equipment. Skilled in the use of the tools and equipment used in the mechanical, electronic and electrical repairs of equipment. Ability to work on marine and land based mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to follow instructions and complete work assignments in a timely manner.  Ability to maintain a clean, neat and safe workstation. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.  Ability to use a computer.

 Selected candidate must successfully pass a level 2 background check.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must have experience as an installer for 12-volt electronics
• Must supply basic hand tools
• Must be eligible to operate heavy equipment such as a forklift.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing at least 70 pounds.
• Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles/vessels and trailers to install/repair equipment
