About the Opportunity

Contentful is an innovative, customer-focused company in a large and growing market. This is a unique opportunity for a junior attorney to join a dynamic legal team in exciting and emerging areas of law. As Contentful’s Associate Legal Counsel - Privacy and Product you will advise and partner with our Engineering, Product, Security, IT, and other teams throughout the organization, to help develop and implement Contentful’s data protection and AI programs, while managing risk and compliance with existing and emerging laws through product counseling. Success in this role requires a collaborative and supportive mentality, experience working with AI technologies to create efficiencies and solve problems, and the ability to distill complex legal concepts into simple, actionable business advice. This role will report directly to the VP & Deputy General Counsel PPIC (Privacy, Product, IP & Compliance).

What to expect? 

• Draft and negotiate privacy and security clauses and contracts.
• Conduct due diligence on existing and new suppliers through the completion of  privacy and AI risk assessments.
• Design, build and implement AI-powered legal tools and lightweight integrations that automate legal workflows, improve accuracy, and expand team capacity. 
• Assess new product features for privacy and AI risks and work with the Product and Engineering teams to develop and implement mitigating controls. 
• Draft new and update existing data protection and AI-related policies and procedures.
• Provide advice and guidance on tactical and strategic product and privacy matters to business teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and contractual commitments.
• Help develop and maintain all aspects of Contentful’s privacy and AI governance programs.
• Respond to third party and employee inquiries regarding their data rights and Contentful’s processing activities.
• Create records of processing activities.
• Work on cross-functional projects to develop and implement company-wide workflows and processes.
• Analyze new data protection and AI laws and regulations and help develop and implement compliance initiatives.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary plus a variable component, that together comprise the On-Target Earnings (OTE).  On-Target Earnings (OTE) are based on a 50/50 pay mix (base salary / target variable).

Position Overview 

The Senior Solutions Engineer is a critical and erse position within the Commercial org, whose goal is to translate customers’ challenges and needs into a technically sound and commercially attractive energy solution, and shepherd that solution from initial scoping through development and final investment decision. The senior role specifically includes providing leadership for a particular regional team, field expertise, and additional exposure to interesting and complex early to late-stage project work and project team leadership. It is a flexible and erse position that includes data analysis, market expertise, frequent contacts with customers, on-site technical evaluations, financial modeling, informal team management, and business prioritization. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

• Drives new Calibrant closed business through direct project modeling and analysis and customer support, including analyzing load data, determining project sizing, costing, simulating expected dispatches, with a demonstrated understanding of regional power markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, etc.) and how market structures and tariffs impact distributed energy project economics, and managing inidual financial models for distributed energy projects to determine optimal customer offerings while maintaining internal returns.  

• Designs and evaluates complex DER solutions – leveraging deep technology and application knowledge of energy storage, solar, and other DERs – for large C&I customers, including multisite portfolios and high load facilities with stringent reliability, uptime, scalability, and long term expansion requirements, as well as constrained or capacity limited sites such as data centers and other high load customers. 

• Provides insight and recommendations across cross functional project teams, including evaluation of BESS value stack tradeoffs across customer side savings, grid services, market based revenue opportunities, performance, risk, and return. 

• Takes on particularly complex or advanced late stage opportunities, providing seasoned project experience – foreseeing challenges, proposing solutions, and providing valuable expertise to enable successful progression to Final Investment Decision (FID). 

• Drives revenue by clearly communicating the range of solutions and corresponding benefits across the spectrum of performance, cost, risk, and compliance, and quickly and accurately identifies recommended solutions to problems that are not fully constrained to provide value to the customer while maximizing business results. 

• Codevelops strategy and associated tactics for closing Calibrant business within a team environment for a defined geographic region. Has insight into changing technology and evolving competitive threats to continuously improve and refine product and solution offerings in a fast changing market. 

• Visits customer sites to identify customer requirements, gather energy data, and inspect existing equipment and configurations, and work in close coordination with key technical contacts within Engineering and Operations to support site level pre-engineering development and analysis in order to make presales solutions recommendations. 

• Highly flexible in day to day activities; works independently in partnership with sales, product marketing, product management, and engineering as a critical link between internal technical resources, the end customer, and key stakeholders. 

• Coordinates regional Solutions Engineering tasks to maintain workload balance, manage modeling queue in coordination with the Manager of Solutions Engineering, and gather requirements for modeling tool development needs. 

• Serves to mentor other team members in a particular region’s solutions engineering team, organizing and prioritizing day to day tasks and translating regional needs to the manager or director. 

• Contributes to the development of technical documentation, webinar presentations, and articles on products, services, and applications as part of Calibrant thought leadership initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical degree. MS degree in Engineering, or related technical degree preferred. 

• 8+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 6+ years’ experience in a technical customer facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, application engineering, field engineering, or other technical support role, and 4+ years of demonstrated technical and analytics experience in distributed generation in a commercial and industrial context strongly preferred 

• Located in assigned territory to enable regular close contact with key customers, vendors, and stakeholders. Site walks of facilities within those regions may be required.

The Information & Technology Services department is looking for a Network Engineer with a hands-on focus on supporting and evolving the enterprise network infrastructure at San Diego International Airport.
