In this role you will:

• Document and communicate internal and external compliance-related information, including changes in regulations, new guidelines and guidance documents along with other information from regulatory authorities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience in medical device manufacturing, quality, or a regulatory/compliance environment

• Experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders on complex technical topics

Position Summary

Under the direction and guidance of the Test Engineer III & Quality Assurance Manager, the Test Engineer II will work with the Solution Architect and the Cloud Architect to assist with coordinating, implementing, and supporting the overall test automation framework for the PropLogix enterprise. The Test Engineer II will be responsible for creating and maintaining automated test suites as systems grow and change. This role will also work with Project Managers/Scrum Masters, Solution Architects, and other project team members to meet project objectives.

This position requires a solid working knowledge of system testing patterns and practices. This positions will routinely produce high-quality work products in all but the most complex or exceptional situations. A Test Engineer II will typically be able to assess and determine the best course of action to take in a given situation and understand how and when to apply standards and guidelines. We're looking for someone proficient and experienced in various test automation technologies; they can present and effectively communicate to all competency levels the importance of best practice methods and the benefits of using them. They also support implementing these practices and patterns within the enterprise and can assist with mentoring more junior QAs in learning and understanding automation from a tactical perspective.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time remote position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., EST. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Your mission

As a QA Analyst at Defiant you will be required to:

• Find new bugs in a web application, WordPress plugin or back-end application, or system.
• Discover the steps to reproduce a bug.
• Document the steps in a well-written bug report which you will file.
• Reproduce bugs reported by a customer or reported to you by our customer service team. This may require some research on your part, working with the CS team to understand what the customer reported, and finding out how to reproduce the issue.
• Verify fixes that have been implemented by the dev team and deployed to our staging environment. If you discover an issue, you'll assign the issue back to the dev team. If you verify the fix, you can mark it verified and move on, until the application or system is ready to be deployed to production.

Figuring Out What to Test and Testing Broadly

One of the skills that we value highly in great QA analysts is the ability to test broadly. What we mean by this is, rather than testing the minimum requirements when verifying a bug, we expect our analysts to come up with creative tests that may reveal problems in new code. This requires anticipating ways that a fix may affect other parts of an application or data.

Specific skills and activities that help with our approach of "testing broadly" are:

• Looking at the PHP code in a pull request, that a developer has implemented, to understand what changed, and get an idea of what else a code change may break, then testing those parts of a system.
• Using a SQL client to access the database that an application is interacting with and looking at the table structure and data. Understanding how a developer's code changes the data, and coming up with new tests, using this knowledge, that may reveal a bug.
• Looking at server error logs to determine if a test is failing silently, or creating output in the error log that may reveal a new area that can be tested to identify a bug.
• Look at the Javascript browser console to find errors that code may be silently generating, that could reveal a bug or other potential problem.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Work directly with the development team to test all system components, from the UI to the API and database. This includes functional, performance, and regression testing
• Contribute to, review, and provide feedback on requirements/user stories, design documents, end-user and administrator documents, and other artifacts
• Develop and maintain test plans and test cases
• Identify, document, and track defects and issues
• Provide technical writing of end-user and administrator documentation

Qualifications

These skills are required:

• Experience with quality assurance across the full lifecycle software development - requirements, design, development, test, and delivery
• Strong knowledge of QA tools, methods, and processes
• Experience testing thick-client, Web client, and Web services software
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment
• Experience creating end-user and administrator documentation
• Some experience with test and quality automation and high and low levels, using tools such as NUnit, SonarQube, Selenium, HP Quality Center, Ranorex, and/or MS Visual Studio Team Services

As a skilled Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer on our Development team, you will ensure product quality for applications that will send and receive data from a variety of healthcare software APIs; both internally and externally. Your contribution to our product helps people get the medical care they need sooner. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.) Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective.
